French Fries and Pizza

For some odd reason, we stepped away from skiing over the pandemic. Maybe it was because Gavin was too small, or we were scared of the 'what if's', but we got back in the saddle this winter.

Kevin has been on skis since he was five and was a competitive skier in high school, and he will french fry right down those black diamonds. I more or less pizza all the way down the greens and have fun but no black diamonds for me unless you'd like to see me screaming, cursing, and likely rolling down the hill.

Hazel decided she wanted to try snowboarding this year - she got off to a rocky start but made it down the bunny hill on her own. Unfortunately, she dropped her board; we got it at a ski swap, and the binding broke, so she decided to try skiing again on our next trip. Those lessons when she was younger paid off; she was up on the lifts and racing Kevin down the greens by the end of the day.

We put Gavin in a SKIwee class, and he was getting down the bunny hill by the end of his first class. The instructors are so patient and understanding in class - they deserve awards! They also have an outdoor blow-up pirate ship and bounce house to play on when they're out of skis and a cute little resting/playing area indoors.

If you have not gone to SKI BRULE, we highly recommend it. The lifts are great for kids (maybe I'm not the best example because I did fall off the faster lift 3 times, had to get picked up by the lift operator twice, and had to go on the slower ones), while Hazel had no problem. The hot chocolate is delicious, plus a fun bonus the drinks and snacks aren't crazy expensive. We even got to hang out with a 90-year-old skier who has inspired Kevin with a similar age ski goal. Even for inexperienced skier's like me - it is a great hill and the green trails are fantastic - be sure to try it!
