Fests, Ramas, Tours, Oh My

Before the winter season begins, it has been quite a fun experience here in the Northwoods with all of the Fall events happening. We couldn't attend everything, even if we wanted to. Now that our shop is officially live on this site and Etsy, I can recap some of the fun things we did this fall that genuinely makes us appreciate the small-town community up here.

Colorama was the first fall event we attended, and we were so happy we did. They had everything at the event including a petting zoo, shopping, rocking bands, local foods, and I'm pretty sure 'Pints in the Park' was Kevin's favorite exhibit.

Beef-a-Rama - this event was the family favorite. We arrived early, around 9:30 am, and there was already great energy from the small crowd. When we got on the main street that was closed down for the day, people had been there for hours getting their BBQ prepared for the contest. We sampled lots of different beef, got to drink delicious Bloody Mary's, and the kids were able to do lots of fun activities like going in blown up balls then rolling in water - it was hilarious!

Cranberry Fest - was cool, but the traffic was awful, it was so crowded it was a bit claustrophobic, and the lines were tremendous. We were in and out pretty quickly - had a quick lunch with my Uncle John, Jean and Grandma Susan - we ate on the ground because there were no seats available. The adults had a glass of cranberry wine or beer. We visited a couple of shops, got some lovely candles and that was about it.

Northwoods Art Tour - this was eclectic fun, I was a bit hesitant to go into people's homes, but I'm glad I put on my big girl pants and mask, of course, to check out the local artisans around the area. We visited Bear Paw Pottery, Jenny's Sock Shop and Textured Elegance.

Trunk-n-Treat - the kids loved this one at the Plum Lake Library! There were many cars and lots of kids who came through. Kevin manned our car while I was out with the kids, and he ran out of candy about an hour in - luckily, the organizers were ready with plenty of extra candy.

Fright Night at the Park - we seriously felt like we were in a Hallmark movie at this event. They had a free haunted house that was perfect for Hazel's age, and they modified the experience for the age of the kids, which was nice. The local fire department maintained a huge bonfire. Plus, they had free food and hot cider. It was encouraged to donate to support building a new local skate park. There have been young kids at almost every event we've been to getting donations to build this park; it is very cool to see these kids passionate and active in their community.

We’re really looking forward to all of the events that are coming this winter and will share more as we explore!
